Hi,

we are trying to connect the RPM signal from S54 engine to MAX Extreme controller.
We tryed almost everything (direct coil connection (-Ve), also tryed directly to
crankshaft sensor and camshaft sensor outp) but no success.

Can you please advise how to proceed !

Thank you for your help,

Uros

Hi :)

I had a similar problem on my Porsche and my Maxx Extreme....

You need to find which pin on your ECU feeds the signal to your DASH rev counter , then splice into that wire....your user manual should list the pin outs....

Hope this helps :)

All the best Brett :)

Sorry to hear you're having some problems with that but it seems to be a problem which is mainly limited to BMW or at least German cars.

Bretts advice may be correct but either way I believe this was covered in this BMW specific thread;

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3416&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

If you can't find it there (as it's so long - it will be AFTER the fit was completed by jtrejo), do a search for jtrejo as it was in a post he made.

On the DME, locate the 40 pin black connector (X60004) and pin #2 should be a black wire with a green stripe.

You can also tap this wire by removing the instrument cluster, and it connects to pin #3 on the big connector.

i first used the black wire in the obd2 port.

then i was using one on the ecu first plug into the ecu i believe there are 7 wires one ground and 6 +wires with colors that go to each coil pack you can use any of those wires, but if you use one of those wires you must set your max controller as a 1 cylinder not 6 anymore.

In German cars there is always the possibility of using the alternator wire (W)
that the sign behind the counter RPM
